Starting in early December, and extended for an extra week into mid-January, the Cash Game World Championship at CoinPoker has come to an end and crowned a winner.
Owen ‘PR0DIGY’ Messere of the UK (no relation to 'JJProdigy') sits atop the leaderboard now the dust has settled, bagging himself the title of Cash Game World Champion and a Rolex Daytona watch worth close to $50K.
Messere’s overall win came against a combined field which included the likes of Linus Loeliger, Eshaan Bhalla, Kayhan Mokri, Wiktor 'Limitless' Malinowski and PokerOrg columnist Patrick ‘Freenachos’ Gerritsen.
Results and EV tracked on series-long leaderboard
The Championship involved round-the-clock online cash games at stakes from $50/100 to $100/200, rake-free, with much of the action streamed live. Players were not able to muck their hole cards at showdown, giving viewers some extra insight into the lines taken by each player in the game.
An interesting addition to the series leaderboard saw each player’s statistics tracked, including winnings, hands played and expected value (EV), which was the primary metric used to rank players on the leaderboard.
A look at the top of the leaderboard shows Messere not only played well but ran well, winning more than $90K above EV. He also clocked up the third-most hands during the Championship with 43,529 hands played, behind only 2nd place finisher ‘riggedeck’ (69,799) and 5th place Kevin Paque (72,251).
