Let’s talk about preparing for the World Series of Poker in Vegas this summer. It’s a long six weeks. There will be long days, and you will want to be comfortable as possible at the tables.

Your goal is to win a WSOP bracelet. But if you’re not prepared, you could be dead money. I'll share with you my essentials for success.

Let’s get into it.

Get through the grind

These items will keep you functioning throughout the long days:

  • Backpack or sling bag - You need a home base for all your stuff.
  • Portable phone charger bank -  Mandatory. You battery will get low during the long hours.
  • Charging cord - Because the pack won’t always save you.
  • Seat cushion - Your butt will thank you. I promise.
  • Medicine - Aspirin, allergy meds, Tums; whatever you need or someone else will.

Stay locked in

These accessories help you play better, longer.

  • Headphones - I have one ear in, one ear out, when I want to stay more aware at the tables.
  • Sunglasses - If you land on a feature table, you’ll want them. It may help hide any tells you may have.
  • Bucket hat - It will complete your look and add some style.

You always want to be courteous to your tablemates and make sure you have fresh breath.

Be courteous

People ignore many of the little things. They really shouldn’t. Don't forget:

  • Cash - You will need to tip the staff when appropriate.
  • Rewards cards - You’re putting in volume, so don’t miss the points.
  • Toothpicks or floss picks - Everyone wants one when I pull them out.
  • Breath mints or gum - Fresh breath is essential. Always be courteous to your neighbors.

I wish everyone the best of luck this summer series at the WSOP. If you’re prepared, you will be ahead of the game. Good luck bracelet hunting. See you there.
