It's been an uncharacteristically quiet run thus far in the 2025 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) for the United Kingdom's Benny Glaser – but are the floodgates about to open?
On Monday, September 22, roughly two weeks into the month-long series, Glaser notched his 16th WCOOP title with a win in Event #81-M: $55 6-Max Turbo PKO. It's only his first win of the series, but Glaser has a tendency to parlay one triumph into another, or even several more, as he did this past summer with a trio of World Series of Poker bracelet victories.
While some of Glaser's past titles have come courtesy of small-field mixed game events, his most recent victory saw him overcome a field of 2,592 entries to claim the first-place prize of $14,516 along with $6,480 in bounty prizes. There's plenty of time left in the series for Glaser to add to his 2025 tally, but it's hard to imagine him matching his record-breaking haul of seven titles across the 2023 WCOOP schedule.
Then again, if anyone can do it, it's Glaser.
Chasing Glaser
Glaser's latest triumph on the virtual felt serves as a timely extension to his lead on the all-time WCOOP title holders list. While he remains the clear front-runner, Glaser's record tally has come under heavy pressure from multiple competitors – including Russia's Denis 'aDrENalin710' Strebkov whose pair of victories this series had already increased his title count to 14.
After failing to add to his collection in 2024, Glaser's slow start to the 2025 WCOOP may have provided an opening for Strebkov – or any other challenger – to claim the top spot. With Tuesday's victory, however, Glaser re-cements his standing as the player to chase when it comes to WCOOP glory. With a multitude of events still to play, including the WCOOP Main Events which kick off September 28, a shake-up at the top of the leaderboard isn't out of the realm of possibility.
With all these titles to his name, Glaser's earnings from WCOOP wins alone totals $380,924.
