PLONCares, a non-profit organization created by Lena Evans of the Poker League of Nations, is working with another charity, the CHEST Foundation, to raise money for a good cause through a series of upcoming virtual poker tournaments.
The first event begins October 29 at 5 pm PST on a web-based poker client and has a guaranteed prize pool of $7,500, with $5,000 going to the winner (via an American Express gift card). While having a good time playing poker is certainly the name of the game, the main focus is to raise money for a charity that fights lung disease.
Irv's Winter Warm-Up virtual poker series benefits the CHEST Foundation and the Feldman Family Foundation, which was created to honor the memory of the late Irv Feldman, an avid poker enthusiast who passed away in 2013 of pulmonary fibrosis, a lung disease.
Poker players interested in helping raise money can sign-up for the virtual poker series on the CHEST Foundation's website.
One poker tournament per month
Irv's Winter Warm-Up includes a virtual poker tournament each month starting October 29 until the Championship final February 18. That's four tournaments — each cost $100 to enter — over four months plus the finale. Each regular tournament includes a $7,500 prize pool with $5,000 in a gift card awarded to the winner. Add-ons and rebuys will be available each month, and are strongly encouraged.
Along with the prizes awarded to those who cash, the Poker League of Nations, the world's largest women's poker organization, is hosting a Last Woman Standing side bet to its members. The PLON member who runs deepest wins an extra $500. For more information on how to get in on this action, you can join the group for free on the PLON members Facebook page.
But wait, there's more. The Championship event on February 18 will have a $12,500 prize pool. The winner takes home a $7,500 gift card and also receives entry into a 2021 Irv Feldman live charity poker event where the grand prize is a seat in the 2021 WSOP Main Event.
To enter the finale, players can either buy-in directly or freeroll their way into the virtual poker tournament by racking up points during the first four events.

Those who are unable to attend the virtual poker tournaments can still help raise money by making a donation online directly to the CHEST Foundation. You can donate as much as you'd like, and have the option of donating one-time or on a regular basis.
