The World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit has announced plans for a return to Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
From December 4-16, the WSOP Circuit will take over Planet Hollywood for the first time since 2019. The newly-introduced PH Poker Room officially opened doors in May, just ahead of the oncoming wave of the 2025 World Series of Poker.
A December to remember
Wow! A Circuit event at Planet Hollywood?! Honestly, that hits home since PH was the first place I played a tournament in Vegas. It was during my best friend's birthday, and we were all in mini dresses after partying (highly recommended for free chips). We all sucked, but I remember feeling so nervous while I was playing. I would shake when putting in chips, but that might have been because I was wearing next to nothing and the room was 50 degrees. Either way, I'm a sucker for nostalgia, so I'll be there for probably the Opener and the Main. That being said, there's no way I'm going to Paradise. There’s too much going on at home and it wouldn't make sense to leave my dogs for. The timing of the 3 heavy hitters all competing around Christmas is strange to me. There are 11 other months in the year!
With the addition of a December stop to the WSOP Circuit calendar, it's Christmas come early for poker players, but with the added travel headaches that tend to follow. It's already a busy time in the poker world as the World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship kicks off in Las Vegas for December 2-22 and the WSOP Paradise series gets underway in The Bahamas from December 4-18.
Since 2023, the two massive tournament series have fought for the allegiance of players – with both sides making use of various player-centric incentives and taking part in an escalation of eye-watering guarantees. For 2025, the WSOP announced a $60M guarantee for its $25,000 Super Main Event and the WPT has promised "special announcements" to come soon.
While it's not clear how the holiday season will fare for either side, the announcement of the WSOP Circuit series at Planet Hollywood adds yet another wrinkle into the mix.
