If the word 'colossal' means huge, and 'super' means very, just how big will a poker tournament called the 'Super COLLOSUS' be?
We'll find out for sure before Christmas, as the World Series of Poker (WSOP) has unveiled the full, 15-event schedule for the upcoming WSOP Paradise festival in The Bahamas, December 4-18, and it includes the above, presumably very huge, tournament. You can view the full rundown of events below.
Among the 15 tournaments — each of which will be awarding a WSOP gold bracelet to its winner — are several brand new events, including an expanded partnership with Triton Poker.
The 2024 festival featured two Triton events, a $100K Main Event and the Triton Million invitational — a high roller with a $500K buy-in where players entered in pairs comprising a ‘VIP’ and their pro guest. Last year’s Triton Main Event was won by Alex Foxen, while the Triton Million was taken down by Alejandro ‘Papo MC’ Lococo for more than $12M.
Triton Poker’s presence will be even more visible this year. While the overall number of events taking place is equal to last year, there will be six events bearing the Triton name at WSOP Paradise 2025, three times as many as last year.
These include main events in both no-limit hold’em and pot-limit Omaha (both with a $100K price tag), as well as the return of the Triton Invitational which will drop to $250K and so loses its ‘Triton Million’ moniker. Buy-ins for Triton events start from $75K.
Super COLOSSUS and PLOSSUS make their debuts
At $5K, the new Super COLLOSUS is one of the cheaper events on the schedule, and will aim to replicate the success of the COLLOSUS event at the WSOP’s summer festival in Las Vegas.
There, over 16,000 entrants took part and more than 2,000 made the money, though with a buy-in of only $500 — a mere 10% of the super-sized version scheduled for The Bahamas — the huge Las Vegas field made perfect sense.
Only one other event at WSOP Paradise 2025 has a buy-in under $10K — the $2.5K Circuit Championship Mystery Bounty — so those looking at the cheaper end of the scale will likely end up rubbing shoulders in the Super COLLOSUS. A Super PLOSSUS, at $10K, will also run, one of four Omaha events on the schedule.
Just three events have published guarantees: the $2.5K Circuit Championship ($5M), the $25K GGMillion$ ($10M) and of course the $25K Super Main Event, which carries the biggest guarantee of them all — and of all time — with at least $60M up for grabs.
The $10M guaranteed in the GGMillion$ is twice the $5M figure from last year, though the buy-in has also been increased from $10,400 to $25,000.
Early bird package details announced
If you’re planning on playing in Paradise this December, there are two early bird packages available that include hotel accommodation, food and room credit.
- The $100K Paradise Package includes hotel accommodation from December 5-18, complimentary access to the WSOP buffet and $500 in room credit to be used for food and beverages throughout the Atlantis Resort. A $10K deposit is required to secure one of the packages, which are limited to 500 in total.
- The $300K VIP Package includes all of the above, plus two extra nights’ accommodation (from December 3), one á la carte meal from the Triton menu per day, and an additional $500 in food and beverage room credit. A $15K deposit is required.
Both packages require the full stated amount to be used in WSOP Paradise buy-ins.
Online satellites for WSOP Paradise are running exclusively on GGPoker, which has committed to sending at least 1,000 players to the $25K Super Main Event. Additionally, players who win WSOP Circuit rings between July and December 2 will qualify for the $2.5K Circuit Championship event, with more opportunities to win your way into the event also available at GGPoker.
Those who win Circuit Championship packages, and who choose to sell action at PokerStake, can benefit from another partnership with the staking site committing to cover up to 50% of a player's unsold action.
More details of the upcoming series, including how to bag an early bird package, are coming soon.
