Jeff Platt has built a big reputation at the WSOP in recent years – if he interviews you, your tournament is as good as over. But one figure has had enough of the joke: the Grim Reaper himself.
Watch the video above... if you dare.
Dear PokerOrg readers, fear not the Grim Reaper. I’ve been playing longer than your solvers have existed.
And though I may have been born of pestilence and ash, I dare not smite those who travel to Prague for WSOP Europe. I grant you safe passage.
Yet, be warned. Do not take me for a fool when it comes to your beloved Jeff Platt. He toys with forces he does not understand.
Long before Jeff Platt walked the tournament floor, turning stacks to dust, I played games of chance beyond the veil. Poker evolved under my watch, from the ink of the shadows.
What is a chip if not a fragment of fate? And what is fate, if not my domain — mine alone?
At first, I was amused. The fear he struck in players as he approached during the WSOP Main Event… it would have brought a tear to my lonely, dark heart – if only I had one.
But this imitation has gone too far.
Platt walks amongst the masses – smiling, chatting… and moments later, stacks disappear.
Coincidence? He would have you believe so.
There's only room for one Reaper at the WSOP
There are those who whisper the truth. Chris Moneymaker knows it:
“For years, when Jeff came up to me during the Main Event, I would always try to dodge him. It seems like whenever he comes around, bad things happen.”
Shaun Deeb mocks it:
“I treat Jeff like any other fan. I give him the time of day for a minute and forget his name as soon as the convo is over.”
They joke. I do not.
Many have tested fate before. We recall Wild Bill Hickok, who reneged on our deal. Black aces and eights sealed his destiny. Debts are always paid.
And now, Jeff Platt plays at the same table.
So I arranged a meeting.
A tête-à-tête between my shadowed realm and his mortal coil. You may witness it above.
And remember: in every tournament, all must dance with the Grim Reaper. All but one survives. The rest? I'll be waiting.
The 2026 WSOP Europe festival is now underway. The Main Event starts April 3 at 12pm local time, and you can watch all the action on the WSOP’s YouTube channel.
