WSOP events #59 and #60 reached their conclusion yesterday. The first being the $2.5k double stack event and the latter a lower-stakes $525 short handed bounty tourney.
Each tourney added a new first-time bracelet winner to the roster.
#59 - $2,500 Double-Stack No-Limit Hold’em
The little line of flags that run down the table of bracelet winners is taking on a distinctly World Cup feel as a fourth Brazilian flag emoji takes its place on this year's list.
Leonardo "Babaehduro" Mattos took down the $2,500 Double-Stack No-Limit Hold’em event for $399,047 out of an impressive $2,519,875 prize pool. He beat out 1,061 other entrants of which 152 got paid. This dwarfs his best live performance when he made just under $100k coming in 7th in a Brazilian event.
The extra-deep stacks favored a few big-name pros with deep runs. For instance, Victor Kudinov, Mark Radoja, and Daniel Negreanu — for whom this was the 23rd cash of the series.
He had to beat out Christopher "RambaZamba" Putz of Austria to take his place in WSOP history.

#60 - $525 Bounty No-Limit Hold’em 6-max
Orhan “yirtil” Ates became the first-ever WSOP bracelet winner from Turkey when he took down the $525 Bounty No-Limit Hold’em 6-max event yesterday. This follows up on his previous impressive run. Earlier in the series, he got down to the last five tables of the $2.5k No-Limit 6-max event. That bracelet ultimately went to WSOP POY favorite, Kristen Bicknell.
Ates won $114,584 for coming first in this event and another $65,593 in bounties.
To do so, he had to win a short heads up scrap with Tobias "juanson" Schwecht at the end of a very international table, at which there were nine different nationalities represented. Taking the series online has gone a long way to bring the W back into the WSOP.
Ates cut a swath through this field of largely unknown players eventually ending up with by far the largest number of scalps in his pile. These were worth in the final balance a full $65,593 — more than twice any of his final table opponents haul.
Schwecht took $82,386 for second, making this one of his best results too. His previous best result came from a WPTDeepStack event in France. That tourney paid him about $18k for 2nd place.
