Iconic Strip property back to full operations ahead of Wynn Summer Series

With one of the biggest live festivals on the U.S. poker calendar a few weeks away, Wynn Las Vegas unveiled a piece of exciting news on Monday.

The unmistakable Las Vegas Strip property became the first in the city to resume at 100% capacity, which went into effect Monday. All Las Vegas businesses received clearance to open up to 80% capacity Saturday, but the Wynn/Encore resort got a special provision to return to full operations.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board allowed Wynn to resume at 100% capacity because the company got more than 80% of its employees vaccinated. Las Vegas tourism has surged over the past few weeks, and Wynn Las Vegas becomes the first property in the city to offer something resembling the pre-COVID Strip experience.

Wynn hosts major tournament festival this summer

Poker players are returning to live tournament festivals in record numbers, as seen at recent poker series in Florida and Texas.

Wynn plays host to what could be the biggest Las Vegas series of 2021, apart from the World Series of Poker. The Wynn Summer Classic plays out May 27 through July 13, with more than $16 million guaranteed across the seven-week series.

Five tournaments on the Wynn Summer Classic schedule offer seven-figure prize pools or larger:

Wynn Summer Classic notable events

Day 1 Flight Dates Tournament Guarantee
May 28-30 $1,100 No-Limit Hold’em $1,000,000
June 17-19 $1,600 No-Limit Hold’em $1,000,000
June 25-27 $10,000 Wynn Millions $10,000,000
July 2-5 $1,600 Mystery Bounty $1,500,000
July 7-8 $3,500 No-Limit Hold’em $1,000,000

The pinnacle of the Wynn Summer Series will play out as one of the most ambitious tournaments ever produced by a Las Vegas poker venue. The Wynn Millions could emerge as something resembling a miniature version of the WSOP Main Event, with a $10,000 buy-in and a $10 million guaranteed prize pool.

The guarantee marks the biggest ever offered at Wynn/Encore by far, and could produce one of the largest fields for a $10k event outside of the WSOP in poker history.

The Wynn Millions begins June 25 and crowns a champion on July 2:

Wynn Millions $10 Million Guaranteed schedule

Wynn Millions Flight Date*
Day 1A Friday, June 25
Day 1B Saturday, June 26
Day 1C Sunday, June 27
Day 2A + 2B Monday, June 28
Day 2C Tuesday, June 29
Day 3 Wednesday, June 30
Day 4 Thursday, July 1
Day 5 Friday, July 2

The plexiglass dividers that have become the norm in live poker rooms across the U.S. aren’t in place anymore at the Wynn/Encore poker room. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the Wynn Summer Series appears poised to play out as one of the biggest poker festivals in the history of Las Vegas poker, non-WSOP division.
