"Corporation" banker in California games drama tracking

As detailed in this article by Haley Hintze, seven tribal plaintiffs in California have sued essentially every California DoJ-regulated cardroom in the state over the use of "Third Party Proposition Players" (TPPPs). You may know them better as "The Corporation" that acts as a de facto banker in the "California" games in non-tribal casinos in California.

Let's review the bidding:

  1. The tribes have filed the suit ("25CV000001", if you want to look it up). They sued 72 (I counted) cardrooms, and likely some of the TPPP "Corporations" (it's hard to tell from the LLC names). All your favorites (Hustler, Bike, Commerce, Bay 101, Lucky Chances, etc) are on the defendant list.
  2. The tribes asked the presiding judge, Lauri Damrell, to issue a temporary restraining order (TRO) preventing the defendants from using TPPPs until the case is settled. She said "No." That's good, because had she said yes, all hell would have broken loose in the DoJ-regulated cardrooms.

Here's my questions:

  1. Are you seeing or hearing rumblings in your local California cardrooms about this suit? Are the suits worried about the suit? Note that if you play in the tribal casinos in California (Morongo, Thunder Valley, Graton, etc) this doesn't impact you.
  2. What do you think would be the effect of a TPPP ban in your cardroom?

Drop your theories, observations, and unsubstantiated rumors here.
