Online tournament to raise money for the Feldman Family Foundation and the CHEST Foundation
Americas Cardroom Team Pro Chris Moneymaker has a $750 bounty on his head in an upcoming online tournament. You won’t find that event on the ACR tournament menu, however, as Moneymaker has his Thursday schedule set aside for a little bit of charity poker.
Moneymaker headlines the latest chapter of the Irv’s Spring Splash Virtual Poker Series, with Event #2 beginning at 8 pm EDT. The tournament will play out on a private, browser-based online poker client, and include a Zoom link for virtual interaction among players as well.
Proceeds from the Irv’s Spring Splash series will go toward the Feldman Family Foundation, as well as the CHEST Foundation.
The CHEST Foundation acts as the “philanthropic arm of the American College of Chest Physicians,” with proceeds from the virtual tournament benefiting the foundation’s health disparities and antiracism efforts.
Event sponsor Suited Poker Gear announced Moneymaker’s participation in a Tuesday tweet:
“Join us to support our friend, @CMONEYMAKER THIS THURSDAY 5/20 for IRV'S SPRING SPLASH online to benefit the Feldman Family Foundation & @CHESTFoundation with $750 Bounty on Chris, to honor his father, who passed from lung disease,” read the tweet.
How to play in the Irv’s Spring Splash Virtual Poker Series
Those wanting to get in on the action for the Irv’s Spring Splash Virtual Poker Series can start the process by clicking on the link in the above tweet.
From there, you can click the “Register” tab to get a spot in the tournament. A $75 donation gets you 5,000 starting chips, while a $125 donation lets you start out with a double stack of 10,000 chips.
The last nine players standing are in the hunt for gift cards, which begin at $150 for finishing in sixth through ninth place. The winner of the tournament receives a $2,500 gift card.
On top of the prize money, the Irv’s Spring Splash Virtual Poker Series awards points based on play, donations, and knockouts accumulated throughout the three tournament series. Event #1 played out on April 23, with Event #3 on tap for June 17.
Event #2 begins Thursday at 8 pm EDT. All registered players will receive a link to the private poker site and the Zoom player meeting before the event begins.
An additional $750 awaits the player that knocks out Moneymaker. The 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event champion brings a reputation as one of poker’s greatest ambassadors, and he’ll lend his one-of-a-kind personality to Irv’s Spring Splash Event #2.
