Negreanu in the Main: It was a long and slow road for 'Kid Poker' on Day 1D of the Main Event – but he bagged up chips and that's all that matters. Roll the tape below to see how it went.

After a day off today, Negreanu will return to battle it out on Day 2D on Tuesday.

WSOP Day 42: Here's a quick rundown of what's on the docket for today as the summer series approaches its end.

Following a massive turnout on Day 1D, the Main Event now rolls on to action in Day 2ABC. With late registration still open, the entry numbers should continue to rise over the next two days. We'll bring you all the latest as soon as cards are in the air at 11:00am local time.

While everyone's focus is on the Main Event – rightfully so – the $600 Ultra Stack NLH also continues today with action in Day 1B, starting at 10:00am local time.

Sorted your free Pick 3 team for the WSOP Main Event? Make sure you save your team by 11am PT on Monday! You could win a $5K trip to play the Moneymaker Poker Tour in Aruba this September.

Need some last minute tips? Here are 5 players from Day 1D who not only have the skills to go all the way, but also the chips.

One level more. Another day, another destiny. Day 1D of the WSOP Main Event is about to walk off on its final break of the night. There are 4,648 entries on the tournament clock, and around 3,964 players remain.

Spotted near the top of the counts? Chris 'Big Huni' Hunichen with around 235K.

SUNDAY, JULY 5

Day 1D swelling. The first level of the day clicked by and more than 1,000 people added themselves to the Main Event in that two-hour stretch.

The breaktime total peaked above 3,440, and it will grow all day.

Polk pops in. The list will be long today with many players of note, but a special standout is Doug Polk. He has never cracked 500th place.

I have registered for the Main Event 🔥 And one code DOUG person is gonna get a 5% sweat. Details below

Negreanu in for Main Event Day 1D from the start: There aren't many tournaments that Negreanu is in his seat from the very first shuffle – the Main Event is one of them. We're expecting a very busy day today and 2,596 players are already registered, with 15 minutes on the clock. How big will it get?

Shuffle up and deal. Day 1D is big. Very big. It's going to fill every corner of Paris and Horseshoe, so bring your patience. 0% chance you end up in an old bowling alley.

2,444 players were set to go when the countdown clock struck 00:00, and it's going to get a lot bigger than that.

New rules? Forget Dua Lipa; Justin Hammer and the Tournament Directors Association have been busy working through the nuts and bolts of poker tournaments at the TDA Summit.

And a few things are changing, like:

  • Chips must be stacked in piles of 20.
  • All-in? Put in all your chips or none, nothing in between.
  • Passive action out-of-turn can't become aggressive if action changes.
  • Smart glasses likely to be banned.

Justin breaks it all down for you, below.

Telling a poker player to 'work on your mindset' is like telling an athlete, 'get fitter'. Vague, generic and impractical.

Instead, as psychologist Paul Gibbons writes in the latest edition of 'The Modern Psychology of Poker', you should be identifying which areas of your mental game need work, and focusing up.

Full article below.

One more Day 1 to go in the Main: Sunday is Day 1D of the WSOP $10K Main Event and your last chance to get in on the ground floor.

Registration stays open until the end of level 7 in Day 2, though. With Day 2s running on both Monday and Tuesday, that means the latest possible moment to enter should be around 3:40pm PT on Tuesday afternoon.

If you do, you'll start with a stack of 60,000 and blinds of 600/1200 with a 1200 big blind ante.

Still, plenty of time to shake off any July 4 hangovers.

Here's what's taking place at the WSOP on Sunday, July 5.

  • 10am: $600 Ultra Stack NLH Day 1A
  • 11am: $1,000 NLH final day
  • 11am: $10,000 Main Event Day 1D

It's not just about the Main on July 4:

  • The $5K Super Turbo needed an extra day to finish. 8 players remain with Pete Chen leading the way with a stack of 23.8M – more than double what Najeem Ajez has in second. The restart is set for 2pm.

  • Event #85: $1K NLH got underway at 10am. It's a two-day event with one re-entry, and late reg at the end of level 10 (around 4pm).

  • It's the final day of the $800 Summer Celebration, with 341 players returning from a field of 6,803. There are still a few fantasy players looking for the 68 field bonus (which kicks in when the field is down to 72): Andreas Frohli, Michael Moncek, Josh Arieh, Matthew Beinner and Allan Le.
Josh Arieh Josh Arieh.

  • There are 5 left in the $600 Deepstack Championship, and they restart at 11am to play for the bracelet. Adriaan Jacobs is the big chip leader.

  • The $1,500 PLO Double Board Bomb Pot resumes with 19 players at 1pm. Jesse Lonis headlines with the fourth-biggest stack.

Happy fourth! It's Day 1C of the $10K Main Event, but don't expect to see Daniel Negreanu today – he's announced for Day 1D. So far, Main Event numbers are tracking just behind 2025 (which ended with 9,735 players). Day 1C attracted 1,678 players last year. Cards are in the air at 11am.
