A definitive date has been declared by 888 Holdings for the exit of its 888poker NJ and 888Casino NJ sites. In an e-mail sent directly to its New Jersey customers, 888 has informed those players that June 3, 2024 will be the final day of operations for the two sites.

The near-future closure of the two sites was expected after 888 sold its existing B2C (business-to-consumer) assets to Hard Rock Digital in early April, following a review of its US-facing operations. Hard Rock Digital is an online arm of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, which may use the platform as the working brand of its national online-gambling operations outside of Florida.

No corporate statement yet regarding NJ closure

To date, the email to consumers is the only announcement from 888 regarding the timing of its exit from New Jersey. It's possible that additional information will be posted in the coming days on the 888poker NJ and 888Casino NJ sites linked above, as well as on 888 Holdings' corporate site.

Nonetheless, the June 3 closure date comes from a highly reliable source, in the form of prominent New Jersey gambling-beat writer John Brennan. On Friday, Brennan simply posted on Twitter/X the text of the email he'd received from 888:

The email with the closing date has also appeared in a recent Reddit thread, showing the email as it appeared in text-message form.

The rapid departure virtually assures that some small percentage of 888's existing New Jersey customers won't get the word about the closure until after the 888poker site is taken offline. After the closure, both the client and the supporting internet landing page are likely to offer email contact information for players who wait until after June 3 to withdraw their remaining balances.
