Adrian Mateos has had a very eventful 2026 Poker Masters.
He bubbled Event #1 when his aces were cracked by Craig Mason, who flopped a set of nines. He finished runner-up to Nick Palma in Event #2, before bubbling Events #3 and #4 as well.
Mateos has seen it all before, though, and he bounced back to claim his first title of the series in Event #5 – and the overall series lead in the race for the Purple Jacket. But even after winning the title, Mateos wasn't finished with the tournament bubble – more of that later.
Joe McKeehen bubbled this one, finishing in 14th place with 13 players getting paid.
By the end of Day 1, Mateos was at the top of the chip counts with seven players left. It was a stacked finale, with Hall of Famer Nick Schulman in second, and Jeremy Becker and Martin Zamani close behind.
Mateos dominates final table
Mateos extended his lead on the very first hand of the final table, when he flopped two pair against Becker's top pair. The Spaniard moved all-in on the river and Becker found the fold.
Mateos didn't release his grip on the chip lead, eliminating Keith Lehr in sixth after Lehr had sent Matthew Wantman to the rail in seventh.
The scalps were shared around – Becker took out Zamani, while Schulman eliminated Robert French – but with three players left, Mateos had extended his chip lead and had a stack of 6.1 million, more than Schulman and Becker combined. It took less than 30 minutes for Mateos to clinch the title.
After bubbling three events, Mateos was due some luck. And everything went his way in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
He eliminated Becker with after flopping top pair and turning trips on a
board. Becker had
and put his last 14 big blinds in after Mateos shoved the river. Watch the hand below.
Mateos wins trophy with aces
Mateos had a big chip lead starting heads-up. And it took him just two hands to find and the trophy.
Mateos raised to 350K and Schulman made the call from a stack of 2.4 million with .
Schulman picked up equity on the flop. Mateos bet 400K and Schulman made the call.
The turn gave Schulman 15 outs, and he didn't take long to commit the rest of his chips after Mateos put him all-in.
The river wasn't one of them, and Mateos added another win to his bulging Hendon Mob résumé, taking his recorded live tournament earnings past $70.5 million.
The win also gave him the lead in the Poker Masters Purple Jacket race, with five events left.
