The 2026 WSOP Online concluded Tuesday following final table action in Event #33: $10K GGMillion$ High Rollers. The closing event of the series drew a massive field of 1,754 entrants to smash the $10M guarantee.
When the final table of nine convened to crown a champion, three players found themselves in familiar territory: Spain's Sergio Aido, Germany's Christopher Nguyen, and Brazil's Matheus Machado.
Machado navigated his way to the final table of this very event in 2025, finishing in fifth place. And back in 2024, the two Europeans did the same.
While Nguyen bowed out in seventh that year, Aido went on to win it all – taking home his second WSOP bracelet and the $1.9M first-place prize.
On Tuesday, he won it again.
Machado does the heavy lifting
With a total of four seven-figure payouts up for grabs, the final table was a hotly-contested affair.
Roeland Peeks held an overwhelming chip lead to start proceedings, with more than 170 big blinds. Aido, his closest competitor in the chip counts, started with a little more than 70.
From there, the gap only widened as Machado, Niklas Astedt, and Ole Schemion were all clustered within the 30 to 40 big blind range. Nguyen and Johannes Straver were a little ways away from that trio while Oshri Lahmani and Alessandro De Michele were the two short stacks.
Astedt was the first player eliminated, running 
into Machado's 
. The ace-high runout improved only the Brazilian.
De Michele went out next, sending the majority of his short stack into the middle with 
. Machado peeled in the big blind and moved all-in for the rest. De Michele called it off and a queen-high flop – the kind Astedt would have liked to see – left him drawing dead on the turn.
Machado claimed a third pelt when he took on Straver's with 
. The 
runout mirrored De Michele's exit as Straver too was left drawing dead on the turn.
And the Brazilian wasn't done yet. Next, he set his sights on Lahmani – downing the Israeli's 
with 
on a 
runout.
Schemion's run came to an end in fifth place. With only a handful of big blinds left, he moved all-in with 
and was called by Nguyen in the big blind. The 
flop was bad news for Schemion as Nguyen had and the turn sealed his fate.
Aido closes... again
With four remaining, each player was guaranteed a seven-figure score – but with more than double that amount for the eventual winner, there was no letting up.
Nguyen and Aido clashed in a massive pot that left the latter with a sizable chip lead over his two remaining opponents.
On a 
board, the two players got all the chips in. Aido had 
for top two pair while Nguyen held 
and needed to hit the river to survive. The wasn't what he was looking for.
During three-handed play, Aido increased his lead considerably – but it was Machado who eliminated Peeks to take things heads-up. In a blind versus blind confrontation, both players picked up an ace-high holding.
Machado's 
had Peeks' 
dominated and the 
runout kept him best.
Aido had the advantage to start heads-up play and he never relinquished it. In the final hand, it was a domination situation in his favor as his 
held up against Machado's on a 
runout.
