Las Vegas pro Brock Wilson has broken through for the largest win of his poker career by taking down the first of three $25,000 WPT Alpha8 Trifecta events being offered as part of the ongoing Wynn Summer Classic. Wilson's triumph over a 78-entry field was worth $571,400.
The big payday is the largest cash Wilson has claimed as part of a tourney victory, and it's the second largest live cash of his career, falling just short of the $619,536 he earned in 2019 as the runner-up in the 2019 Party MILLIONS Super High Roller in Nassau.
The win moves Wilson to just under $8 million in recorded live-event winnings. More than $1.2 million of that total has come in World Poker Tour events.
Wilson's victory came at the expense of Seth Gottleib, who earned $380,900. Artur Martirosian finished third for $253,900, while Matthias Eibinger placed fourth for $176,400. Ten players cashed in a tourney that ultimately offered a $1,864,200 prize pool.
Two more trifecta events in early July
Wilson's victory in the first of the three Wynn WPT Alpha8 high rollers also gives him the lead in a special leaderboard race covering those three Alpha8 events. Only the top four finishers in these events receive leaderboard points.
The three Alpha8 Trifecta high-roller tourneys are being offered once per week amid the long-running 2024 Wynn Summer Classic festival. Trifecta #2 runs July 3 and 4, while the third and last event runs July 10 and 11. The three WPT Alpha8 events are just a small part of the Wynn Summer Classic's 98-event slate.
