Dan Dvoress earned his seventh Triton Poker Super High Roller Series title today in Jeju, South Korea with a win in the $30,000 NLH 8-Handed.
Following a three-trophy haul at the tour's stop in Montenegro back in May, the Canadian picked up right where he left off – riding his residual momentum to another win and the $942,000 first-place prize.
The $30K NLH 8-Handed drew a field of 135 entrants. When Day 1 play came to a close, Dvoress held the chip lead. With 18 players remaining to start Day 2 and a field replete with former champs – including Xuan Liu, Ben Tollerene, Stephen Chidwick, Alex Kulev, Nick Petrangelo, and Danny Tang – Dvoress was far from guaranteed the win.
When the final table of eight players came together, Dvoress still clung to the chip lead.
Dvoress' revenge
When play reached the heads-up stage, Dvoress squared off against a familiar opponent in Liu.
The two Canadians had met once before on the Triton stage – with Liu getting the better of her countryman in that encounter.
While she managed to overcome a significant chip deficit on that occasion, Dvoress' lead was too great for her to surmount this time around.
The very first hand off the deck brought about the deciding moment. Dvoress picked up 
and moved all-in for Liu's sub-20 big blind stack. She looked down at 
and called it off.
The 
runout improved Dvoress to a wheel and that was that.
Leading the Player of the Year race
With his fourth win of the year now secured, Dvoress has extended his lead in the race for the Ivan Leow Player of the Year honors.
With 3,371 points accrued thus far, the gap between the Canadian and his nearest competitor – Isaac Haxton at 2,517 points – is a sizable one.
