Stevens, Greenwood both take home EPT titles on PokerStars
Plenty of new champions have been crowned at the 2020 EPT Online since Poker.org last checked in on the first-ever all-online European Poker Tour event. The series, scheduled for Nov. 8-18, is almost at its end, and several of the biggest tournaments of the series played out over the weekend.
Here's a look at some of the highlights from Day 5 through Day 8 (Nov. 12-15) of the EPT Online schedule:
Eelis "EEE27" Pärssinen takes down $25k Super High Roller
The biggest prize of any EPT Online event so far went to Finland's Eelis "EEE27" Pärssinen, who took down Event #10: $25,000 Super High Roller. The high-stakes tournament drew a predictably tough field, with names like Artur Martirosian (9th - $62,353), Joao Vieira (6th - $127,249), and Benjamin 'bencb789' Rolle ($302,837) all making final table appearances.
Pärssinen took home $539,819 in the win, outdueling another world-class player, Christian Rudolph ($404,324) in the heads-up battle.
The $25k Super High Roller drew 81 entries, with only those final nine players making the payout ladder and coming away with a piece of the $2 million guaranteed prize pool.
'DON JOHAN' wins the Arena Championship for $356,769
The opening event on the EPT Online schedule played to a finish Nov. 11. Norway's 'DON JOHAN' took the win in Event #1: $1,050 Arena Championship, coming away with $356,769 in the victory.
The Arena Championship drew a massive field, with 2,426 entries registered for a tournament that ended up with a $2,426,000 prize pool. 'DON JOHAN' beat out 'smoothieg' (2nd - $254,316) in heads-up play to finish off the tournament win.
Other top finishers included Daniel Kihlström (3rd - $181,285), Andrey Chernokoz (4th - $129,226), Gustavo Rocha (5th - $92,117) and Guilherme Carmo (6th - $65,664).
Sam Greenwood victorious in $10k 6+ Hold'em High Roller
Canadian tournament crusher Sam Greenwood added another title to his legacy, winning his fourth career EPT event. Greenwood took down Event #13: $10,300 6+ Hold'em High Roller, winning $177,599 in the process.
Greenwood, a top-25 player on the Hendon Mob online tournament career earnings list, topped a field of 41 entries in the only 6+ Hold'em event on the EPT schedule. Other players finishing in the money for this high-stakes short deck event included 'Jhaoklet' (2nd - $113,503), Jordi Urlings (3rd - $72,539), and 'ytrer' (4th - $46,360).
Bert Stevens takes down $10k 6-Max Turbo High Roller
Two of the world's top players finished in the final two spots in Event #15: $10,300 Turbo 6-Max High Roller. Bert Stevens took down the championship for a $186,238 payday, outlasting Michael Addamo (2nd - $139,492) in heads-up action.
The $10,300 Turbo 6-Max High Roller included names like Mikita Badziakouski (3rd - $104,479), who came up just two spots short of securing his second High Roller title of the EPT Online festival.
Other top finishers from Event #15 were 'BoldSergey' (4th - $78,255), Laszlo Butjas (5th - $58,613), Conor Beresford (6th - $43,901) and Vyacheslav Buldygin (7th - $32,882).
The EPT Online festival continues through Wednesday, with still six more champions to be crowned before series end. Event #16: $5,200 NLHE 8-Max Main Event plays down to the final 45 players Tuesday, with those survivors coming back Wednesday as the pinnacle event in the EPT Online series continues.
