WSOP.com side of the 2020 Main Event headlines this weekend’s online tournament lineup
U.S. players get their shot at the 2020 WSOP Main Event this weekend. The WSOP.com-hosted tournament headlines the weekend’s slate of online events.
Plenty of other big-money tournaments await on this weekend’s schedule, which also sees the GGPoker WSOP Winter Online Series present a pair of seven-figure prize pool tournaments.
Here’s a look at what’s on tap for the weekend of Dec. 12-13:
2020 $10,000 No Limit Hold’em World Championship (WSOP.com)
Will attendance for the U.S. side of the 2020 WSOP Main Event exceed what the GGPoker side of the Main Event produced?
International players played through the GGPoker side of the Main Event this past weekend. A total of 674 players registered, which is now down to a final nine.
The traditional version of the WSOP draws upwards of 6,000 players to Las Vegas each year, but this year’s online/live hybrid adaptation appears slated to fall well short of that mark.
WSOP.com offers the Main Event to players in Nevada and New Jersey. Day 1 kicks off Sunday, with the field playing through a 12-hour day.
Day 2 then resumes Monday, Dec 14., with action scheduled to play down to a final table. The final nine players will then resume the tournament as a live event, scheduled to take place at the Rio Las Vegas Dec. 28. The last player standing from that final table takes on the winner from the GGPoker side of the Main Event, which determines a winner Dec. 16 at King’s Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic.
WSOP $100 Million Guaranteed Winter Online Circuit Series (GGPoker.com)
A pair of big-money events play down to a final table Sunday in the WSOP Winter Online Circuit Series at GGPoker.
Event #1: BIG $50 resumes Sunday, with survivors from the opening flights of the phased tournament coming back for Day 2 action. Someone from the Day 2 field will turn their $50 buy-in into a massive payday, as the tournament guarantees $1 million in prize money.
Day 2 is scheduled to play down to a final table. The final nine will then take a break and come back Saturday, Dec. 19, and play down to a champion.
The Phase One flights for the BIG $50 have played out throughout the week at GGPoker, and opportunities to advance to Day 2 will continue until the beginning of second-day action. Day 2 begins at 6:30 pm GMT.
High rollers can look forward to a massive increase in the guarantee for GGPoker’s weekly Super MILLION$ event. WSOP Winter Online Circuit Series Event #2: $10,300 Super MILLION$ High Roller, takes the place of the regularly scheduled Super MILLION$.
The normal edition of the Super MILLION$ guarantees $1.5 million, but the WSOP Winter Online Circuit Series version of the tournament raises that prize pool to $5 million guaranteed.
Event #2 commences at 6 pm GMT on Sunday, Dec. 13.
Per the standard Super MILLION$ structure, the tournament will play to a final table Sunday and resume Tuesday to play to a champion.
The final tables for both the BIG $50 and the Super MILLION$ High Roller will feature live streaming coverage on the GGPoker Twitch channel.
