The third episode of the Winamax-produced Inside the Mind of a Pro series aired Monday, taking audiences through another chapter of the 2024 World Series of Poker Main Event. After Gus Hansen's Main Event run ended early, Winamax Pro Adrian Mateos takes up the mantle – and the camera crew's focus – to keep the journey alive.
Mateos' coverage begins with a brief recap of his results in 2024, with a nod to his jump into the Top 10 on the Hendon Mob All-Time Money List, and then sends you right into the action as he goes to work on the final level of Day 1 with over two hundred big blinds in his arsenal.
As he takes his seat, Mateos' voiceover clues viewers in to his overall strategy for the Main Event. While most audiences will be accustomed to watching Mateos battle it out at nosebleed stakes in relatively small field tournaments, the Spaniard's skills remain on full display throughout the episode as he adjusts his approach to the unique beast that is the WSOP Main Event.
Adrian Mateos may be more accustomed to the nosebleed stakes, but he knows exactly how to maneuver through a large tournament like the Main Event. Although the environment has shifted, Mateos conducts himself on the felt as well as any professional – no ego, pure play – and the direct insight into his thought process through the voiceovers offers invaluable knowledge from one of tournament poker's greatest minds.
