The PokerOrg Legends Lounge opened its doors today, and it's already a hive of activity. By Wednesday night, it will be a party.
For real.
If you're in Las Vegas, you should come say hi Wednesday night and have a drink. And if you're up for more, you can start your day with us in a much more calm way.
PokerOrg Legends Lounge open for business
The doors of the PokerOrg Legends Lounge hadn't been open for five minutes Tuesday before the first member of The Org walked in, and she couldn't seem to believe it.
Clean bathrooms with no lines. A free stainless steel water bottle and cold water stations. Cookies, chips, coffee. A live stream from the WSOP on the wall. All of that, and we'd not even started the shenanigans yet.
Within a couple of minutes, a grinder from North Carolina was chatting with Dara O'Kearney in a private booth.
This is how we started our day today. A little chaotic, and a lot of plans for a big two and a half weeks. Wednesday morning...we're going to be a lot more chill.
Morning mindfulness with Craig Tapscott
We're here for the next two and a half weeks, and the big fun and shenanigans start Wednesday. Before we get too wild, we're going to get our heads together.
Beginning Wednesday morning at 11:30am, PokerOrg's Craig Tapscott will be hosting a free morning mindfulness session to help all members of The Org get prepared for a day of play.
Expect a relaxing and chill beginning to the day.
"Nothing sweaty," Tapscott said. "It will be Qi Gong, stretching, breathwork, and meditation, and then... let's go."
And then after a big day of play, you'll want to relax in a different way. We've got you covered.
PokerOrg Communities Night
Wednesday, June 25, from 5-8pm, the PokerOrg Legends Lounge will host a special open bar night dedicated to poker's best communities. Whether you're already part of one of poker's many communities or just want to hang out with them, we're inviting you to come have a drink with us.
For three hours, we'll supply the drinks and the space, and everyone else can kick back, relax, and meet your fellow fans and community members from around the poker world.
Everything is free. All you need is your free membership to The Org. And you can sign up at the door.
We want to meet you
As Tuesday got rolling, we started meeting many of you face-to-face for the first time. It's our favorite thing to do. Whether you read The Org newsletter, follow us on Instagram, or are fans of our live reporting, we always want to get to know the people who are part of our community.
So, today, as the podcast production team was setting up our live broadcast studio in the back, the live stream was playing on a big wall, and Terrance Reid was walking purposefully through the room recording his daily vlog, we met Org member Craig Forlines.
Craig is from the Outer Banks and a rec player who said, "I'm not any good at poker, but I enjoy playing, and now I have time."
A few years ago, Craig retired after serving North Carolina communities for years. For 15 of those years, he was the fire chief in Oak Island, North Carolina (where, as coincidence would have it, my son is playing summer baseball this year).
Craig is in town through Friday and will be back here to hang out. We hope we'll see you, too.
