What's your advice for players heading to the WSOP?
I would say you should start your prep early. Study by checking out some of the great online training sites available. However, summer is almost here, so put in some volume where you can. It doesn’t matter if it’s online or live.
Get your body right. Ensure you’re taking care of your physical body and plan how you will continue to do that throughout the series. Plan your meals. How are you going to eat right day in and day out? Plan where you will get healthy food and also where you can exercise to keep you mentally and physically at peak performance.
Also, plan how you are going to deal with distractions. There are plenty. There is a lot of partying, beach clubs, and drinking going on. And it seems everyone is going out each evening. Where is your focus going to be?
Focus on what you're there to do and set tangible goals. You don't want to set intangible goals like I'm going to get a $200K score because you won't have any control over that. But you have control over how you show up and take care of your mindset.
Get serious. Have a tangible plan and goals before you leave for the series. Most of all, you should hold yourself accountable for how you will show up to achieve them.
What event are you most looking forward to playing?
The Main Event. I cashed the Main for the first time last year. I made it to day four and had a top twenty stack going into the day. I put a lot of work into my prep for that event. It was an incredible experience. I cannot wait to play the Main Event this year.
I'm also looking forward to the tag team because Ashley Franks and I will be partners. I think it'll be really fun.
Did you play the Ladies Championship last year?
I did play the ladies last year and didn't do that well. It’s an awesome event. I usually don't like ladies events personally, although there is a lot of great camaraderie. But the WSOP event was very special.
There's a lot of money up top in the WSOP event. You're playing with many of the best women in the world. Mostly, everyone's there to have fun and enjoy each other’s company. I’m looking forward to it this summer.
