The 2020 live tournament poker scene continues to see more events sprinkled throughout the U.S. As COVID-19 restrictions are relaxed, tournament poker players are seeing more live series announced in the states.
Two more poker tournament series are on the way this fall, as the St. Louis, MO and Tampa, FL areas will both host upcoming events.
The Ameristar Poker Open takes place at the Ameristar Casino & Hotel in St. Charles, MO, Nov. 11-15. The Ameristar St. Charles, located in the St. Louis area, will play host to a tournament series that includes four events, culminating in the $350 buy-in, $30,000 guaranteed Main Event.
The Main Event will include three Day 1 flights, which run Nov. 12-14. The survivors of those opening flights come back Sunday, Nov. 15, and play down to a winner.
Other events at the Ameristar Poker Open include a $150 Deep Stack event (Nov. 11), and a pair of $200 Double Stack tournaments (Nov. 12 and Nov. 14).
Seminole Hard Rock Winter Poker Open comes to Tampa
Off the heels of massive player turnout for its recent Pinktober Poker Open tournament series, the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa is set to run the 2020 Winter Poker Open Dec. 2-14. The series offers eight events (not including satellites) and guarantees at least $350,000 across the series.
The Winter Poker Open's centerpiece tournament is offered in the form of a $200,000 guaranteed, $1,700 buy-in Main Event. The Main Event offers a trio of Day 1 flights, which run each day Dec. 10-12.
Players emerging from those Day 1 flights will return to the Seminole Hard Rock Sunday, December 13, with the plan to play until a champion is crowned. The Main Event will extend to Monday, Dec. 14 if necessary.
Other events in the Winter Poker Open include the series-opening $50,000 guaranteed, $300 buy-in NLHE event, which commences Dec. 2. A $100,000 guaranteed, $400 buy-in NLHE event runs Dec. 3-6.
Live tournaments slowly coming back to U.S. shores
U.S. tournament players can take these upcoming series, as well as a pair of scheduled stops for the Mid States Poker Tour, as a sign that the tournament poker scene might return to normalcy in the next few months.
The MSPT heads to the Venetian poker room in Las Vegas for a pair of series in November. The MSPT Deepstack Extravangaza offers an $1,100 buy-in event Nov. 13-15 ($200,000 guaranteed), as well as a $1,600 buy-in tournament Nov. 19-23 ($400,000 guaranteed).
Live tournament poker is coming to Houston, TX as well, as the debut event for the Lone Star Poker Series is set for the Prime Social poker club Oct. 23 through November 1. That series features a $104,000 guaranteed, $580 buy-in Main Event.
