Prominent player and commentator Maria Ho has become the latest poker pro to sign as a brand ambassador by joining StormX, the crypto-focused browser-extension company. StormX announced the signing of Ho on Wednesday, as part of its increasing move into the poker and gambling space.
Ho, who has earned over $4.4 million in poker tournaments in her career to date, is also described as a "crypto enthusiast" by StormX, which helps people earn any of several different cryptocurrencies as Crypto Cashback when its users purchase everyday items online. The StormX browser extension is also offered as a mobile app.
Ho and StormX were introduced in March via PokerGO, when PokerGO signed StormX as its exclusive cryptocurrency partner. As part of that deal, PokerGO hosted the first-ever StormX Invitational poker tournament, in which Ho was one of the celebrity poker-pro participants. In addition to her success at the tables, Ho is widely known as a poker commentator at major events, such as at last summer's WSOP Main Event final table, where she teamed with Kara Scott to host the bustout interviews of just-eliminated finalists.
Ho became well-known to the poker public in 2007 when she was the "Last Woman Standing" in the WSOP Main Event. She later appeared on CBS's popular "The Amazing Race" with her fellow player and good friend Tiffany Michelle. Ho is also the youngest-ever enshrinee into the Women in Poker Hall of Fame, which honored her prominent poker accomplishments in 2018.
"Many known poker players and enthusiasts alike often express interest in cryptocurrencies and the digital asset space," Ho stated. "StormX is a great bridge for those looking for an extra way to diversify and fuel their portfolios and those who may have only dabbled in crypto before. I'm proud to represent StormX as one of the most respected and innovative crypto companies."
StormX's CEO and co-founder, Simon Yu, added, "We are excited to have Maria representing StormX as an ambassador. We love her overall energy and passion for crypto. She's one of the best poker players in the business and we hope that with her help, we will be able to reach new crypto enthusiasts."
Ho's deal with StormX calls for her to join the crypto concern in cross-promotion efforts across multiple media channels. She'll be patched with StormX's logo when she plays at poker events, and she'll also appear in a series of commercials promoting the StormX brand.
