A busy August for poker tournaments on the East Coast continues with the 2023 Maryland State Poker Championships, ro be held August 9-22 at Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland. The 19-event series will offer more than $2 million in guaranteed prize money, and it marks the fifth time the series has been offered.
Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland is in Hanover, Maryland, amid the Baltimore-Washington, D.C. metro corridor, and it's become one of the most popular rooms in the region. The 2023 MSPC will be headlined by a $5,300 Main Event with its own $1 million guarantee. The event offers two separate starting days, on Friday, August 18 and Saturday, August 19, and even allows for a couple of hours of extended late-registration early on the event's Day 2 on Sunday, August 20.
Other interesting offerings are sprinkled throughout the 2023 Maryland State Poker Championships schedule. The series will offer three separate bounty championships, one in traditional no-limit hold'em and the other two in Omaha formats, one each in four-card and five-card ("Big O") PLO.
The 2023 MSPC also offers three limited-entry events. Seniors (50 and up) and Super Seniors (60 and up) events are on the slate, as is a ladies event being run in conjunction with one of the largest ladies' poker-community groups, the Poker League of Nations (PLON).
A heads-up event plays through several days of brackets just before the Main Event begins, and two higher buy-in NLH events, a $2,200 LIVE$STACKS Championship and an $1,100 "Closer", help wrap up the 2023 MSPC's two-week run.
