Michael Wang is having an excellent week. The two-time WSOP bracelet winner has won two back-to-back events at the Stairway to Millions and is well on his way to a one-gapper hat trick.
Wang won the Stairway To Millions Event #5: $1,640 on Tuesday and followed it up on Wednesday with another win in Stairway To Millions Event #6: $1,640. After two wins in a row, Wang's run good took a rest day.
Wang busted Event #7: $2,500 without cashing but got in the money today when he went into five-handed play as the chip leader of Event #8: $2,500.
"It's back-to-back for Mike Wang who started the day sixth in chips to capture victory in Stairway to Millions - Event #6," wrote PokerGO's Twitter team on his victory. "Wang's victory comes after winning Event #5 yesterday, and he earns $22,458 plus a second seat in the $5,350 step."
The Stairway to Millions is a new format that debuted earlier this year, in which each player who cashes in one event gets part of their prize as a buy-in to the next event. The events escalate in value through the course of the series. This means a lucky player who gets a string of cashes going could run up a $420 buy-in in Event #1 into a $52,000 buy-in to Event #12.
Wang hasn't managed quite that good a run, but he's on his way to a profitable series nonetheless.
You can see Wang try to make his third cash on PokerGO where they are live streamed and recorded.
