Chris Moneymaker is among the former champs who will compete in an upcoming virtual charity poker event. The new Americas Cardroom ambassador will join 2004 world champion Greg Raymer in the Chicago Lighthouse's annual "Raising the Stakes for Vision" tournament.
Poker League of Nations, the world's largest women's poker organization, is lending a helping hand for the charity event. Lena Evans, the PLON founder, will compete in the tournament, along with other PLON ambassadors and, of course, the two former poker world champions.
The tournament takes place February 26 at 7 pm CT and has a $5,000 grand prize guarantee, awarded in the form of gift cards of the winner's choosing. Other final table participants will receive additional prizes ($1,000 for 2nd place, $500 for 3rd place, $200 each for 4th-9th place). Additionally, the three last women standing in the tournament will split a separate $1,500 prize pool.
Linda Johnson, a 2011 Poker Hall of Famer dubbed the "First Lady of Poker," and Lexy Gavin, one of the top female poker players in the world, will take a seat at the virtual table to help raise money for a good cause.
Speaking of that cause, the Chicago Lighthouse is a world-renowned organization serving the blind, visually impaired, disabled, and Veteran communities.
Jeannette Mendez, an avid poker player, PLON Founding Ambassador, and CEO of Clear Vision Ophthalmology in Phoenix, Arizona, is sponsoring the tournament's Last Women Standing prize pool.
“We are proud to support The Chicago Lighthouse in our shared goal of providing low vision treatment to everyone, particularly minorities and other underserved communities,” Mendez said in a press release.
Dr. Corey Hochman, a supporter of PLON and founder and medical director of Clear Vision Ophthalmology, will also be in attendance for the charity event. He's also quite an accomplished poker player with over $1.4 million in live tournament cashes, including a $152,000 score for his runner-up finish in a 2017 WSOP Circuit event in Las Vegas.

Access to the event's Zoom room begins at 6:30 pm CT on the 26th. Cards are expected to be in the air at 7:10 pm. Players start with 5,000 chips and the blinds increase every 10 minutes. You can re-enter as many times as you'd like for a $100 donation each time. Additionally, players can add-on 15,000 chips for another $100 donation.
Moneymaker and Raymer, two poker champs and poker ambassadors, will be available in the Zoom room for others to chat with. You can take your shot against two of the most famous WSOP Main Event champs in history. And, even more importantly, help raise money for an important cause.
All proceeds from the tournament go to the Chicago Lighthouse organization.
