It wasn't long ago that Main Event champion Chris Moneymaker announced his new Moneymaker Tour, a brand-new traveling poker tour carving its way into the tournament scene with value and excitement.

Now, with two complete stops in the state of Florida under their belts, the tour heads to Hard Rock Casino in Cincinnati, Ohio for what shapes up to be its biggest stop to date.

With plenty of experience in the industry, much of which was in Florida, Executive Manager Tony Burns knows what a big week this is for the Moneymaker Tour.

A week of firsts for the Moneymaker Tour

"To bring the Tour to Hard Rock Cincinnati means a lot both personally and professionally," said Burns. "Hard Rock is one of the most iconic brands globally and it marks many firsts for the Moneymaker Tour."

Indeed, while their stops in West Palm Beach and Daytona were clear successes, this week will see the new tour rise to several exciting milestones.

Burns elaborated, "It's our first stop outside of Florida, our first casino, our first Mystery Bounty event, and our first million-dollar-guaranteed Main Event."

According to Burns, players in Ohio have been craving tournament poker action in their own backyards, so big turnouts are expected throughout the series.

"It was a job well done for the team at Hard Rock Cincinnati putting this all together," said Burns in a shared video. "It's been quite a few years since they had a tournament series here, let alone in the state of Ohio. Absolutely gorgeous job here, I can't wait for everyone to see it. It rivals some of the events that I've been involved with, and I've been involved with a few throughout the years. Everyone will be pleasantly surprised with the beauty of this room."

Key dates for the series

As Burns said, there will be several events to bring the poker tournament scene back to the area in an exciting way:

  • September 21 - 24 - $600 Mystery Bounty - $500k GTD - six starting flights
  • September 27 - October 2 - $1,500 Moneymaker Main Event - $1m GTD - four starting flights
  • September 26 - $1,500 High Roller PLO - $50k GTD

Those are but a sliver of the events offered, all of which you can find via the full schedule provided by the Tour. You'll see plenty of mixed games, loads of satellites, and a variety of buy-ins to cater to bankrolls of all sizes.

Additionally, with fall sports in full swing, sports bettors can bet at the Hard Rock as well, and you don't have to leave the poker tournament area.

"Players will be able to place sports bets in the event center via kiosks," said Burns.

With over $2 million in guarantees, $500k of which will be in play for the opening Mystery Bounty Event, tournament poker is back in play in Cincinnati thanks to the Moneymaker Tour.
