The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol in Virginia, near the border with Tennessee, has announced that its new 14-table poker room will open for business at noon on Friday, February 7.

As part of one of Hard Rock Entertainment's growing lineup of casino-entertainment venues, the casino and its new poker room flesh out the offerings available in central Appalachia, a once-underserved region for both casinos and poker offerings.

The Hard Rock Bristol poker room will find itself sandwiched between two of Caesars' poker room offerings. The large Caesars room at Cherokee, North Carolina, is about two-and-a-half hours away to the west-southwest, while the new room at Caesars Danville is about three-and-a-half hours to the east.

Cash games and tourneys in Bristol's non-smoking room

The new poker room at Hard Rock Bristol will be a non-smoking facility, giving it another selling point, and it will sit immediately adjacent to the casino's non-smoking slots hall. Once opened on Friday, the poker room promises to offer both cash-game and tournament action, though at the outset the tourneys are likely to be smaller daily offerings. Whether the casino has additional space available to offer a larger tournament series and, possibly, partner with a poker tour isn't yet known.

“We’re excited to bring a first-class poker room to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol,” said Alan Thompson, the casino's Vice President of Gaming Operations, in a press statement. “With a mix of cash games and tournament play, we’re offering something for every poker player, whether they’re local or traveling from afar. We look forward to welcoming guests from across the region and beyond to experience our state-of-the-art venue.”

Hard Rock Bristol has yet to launch an online home for the new poker room, which will be listed alongside the casino's other table games offerings. The page will likely be brought online this week and is expected to provide more information on Hard Rock Bristol's poker services and operations.
