The countdown has started on what promises to be another monster WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown, with just over two weeks until the $3 million guaranteed Championship event kicks off in Hollywood, Florida.

If that sounds like a mouth-watering guarantee for a single event, it was nothing compared to last year’s final prize pool, with 2,290 entries producing a whopping $7,328,000, with a seven-figure payout up top.

Following in Bin Weng’s footsteps

Bin Weng emerged victorious to lift the $1,128,250 top prize last year and went on to be crowned WPT Player of the Year for his astonishing results throughout 2023.

Come April 19, when the five-day $3500 buy-in Championship event kicks off, Weng will doubtless be back to the scene of his first WPT title and looking to see his name etched on the Mike Sexton Champions Cup yet again.

He certainly won’t have it his own way at the iconic guitar-shaped Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood. We expect to see the likes of Alex and Kristen Foxen, Andrew Moreno, and former WSOP Main Event champ Ryan Riess battling for the title after cashing last year.

75-tournament festival schedule

And there's much more than just the Championship event – another 74 tournaments, in fact. The SHRPS festival is a three-week series, beginning on Wednesday, April 3, with a $1 million guaranteed, $400 buy-in DeepStack event. Buy-ins range from the $200 Big Stack (April 8, $200,000 guaranteed) up to the $50K Super High Roller. Add in the various satellites, and you're looking at 130 different events, with something for every game and budget.

MUG with Brad Owen to open Championship

Before the Championship gets underway, a WPT Meet-up Game (MUG) hosted by WPT Ambassador Brad Owen will welcome players to the South Florida cardroom on April 18.

The morning MUG, one day prior to Day 1A of the $3,500 Championship event, will feature $2-$5 cash game action, with WPT commentator Vince Van Patten and WPT Executive Tour Director Matt Savage on hand to help things along.

“I’m pumped to return to the world-famous Guitar Hotel for another meet-up game,” Owen said. “Last year’s MUG at the Poker Showdown was a blast, and we’re eager to bring back that hype to the Florida crowd for the upcoming SHRPS.”

PokerOrg will bring you all the very best of the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown action.
