The PokerStars PA platform hit the one-year mark of operations in Pennsylvania this month. Pennsylvania's lone state-regulated online poker site is celebrating with a special tournament series for its players in the Keystone State.
The Pennsylvania 1st Anniversary Series kicked off Sunday, beginning an online festival that sees 35 events offered Nov. 8-16. The first seven of those events commenced Sunday, but still plenty of tournament action awaits over the next week on the PokerStars PA network.
Today's Pennsylvania 1st Anniversary Series slate is highlighted by Event #10: $500 NLHE 6-Max High Roller. The tournament offers a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool, making it one of three remaining series events promising $50,000 in prize money. Only the series Main Event offers a bigger guarantee.
The other two $50,000 guaranteed tournaments include Event #12: $200 NLHE Super Tuesday SE, which commences Tuesday, Nov. 9. Another $50,000 guaranteed tournament hits the schedule on the final day of the series, in the form of Event #34: $50 NLHE 8-Max Phase 2. That tournament takes place Monday, Nov. 16.
Main Event and Mini Main Event run Sunday, Nov. 15
The Pennsylvania 1st Anniversary Series culminates in Event #28: $100 NLHE Main Event. The $100 buy-in tournament offers a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool, which will likely draw one of the biggest overall fields of any event in the series.
Running concurrently with the Main Event is Event #29: $20 NLHE Mini Main Event. At just a $20 buy-in, the Mini Main Event presents a $25,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Both the Main Event and the Mini Main Event begin Sunday, Nov. 15. The Main Event runs as a two-day tournament, with Day 1 action breaking after 7.5 hours of play Sunday.
Other notable events
Progressive knockout tournament enthusiasts will likely find plenty to like about the Pennsylvania 1st Anniversary Series schedule. Six of the remaining tournaments on the schedule play as PKO events.
The biggest of those remaining PKO events begins Thursday, Nov. 12. Event #18: $200 NLHE 8-Max PKO Thursday Thrill SE offers a $40,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Other PKO events include Event #19: $20 NLHE 8-Max PKO Mini Thrill ($17,500 guaranteed), which runs concurrently with Event #18. Sunday, Nov. 15 brings Event #27: $100 NLHE Turbo PKO Deepstack, and a $25,000 guarantee along with it. Another big PKO tournament runs later that same day, in the form of Event #30: $100 NLHE PKO, also offering $25,000 guaranteed.
One-year anniversary for PokerStars PA
PokerStars PA launched in the Keystone State in November 2019, and for the past 12 months has operated as the only state-regulated online poker site in the Pennsylvania market.
The Pennsylvania 1st Anniversary Series celebrates PokerStars PA first year of operations, and the first seven events in the series ran Sunday, Nov. 8. Included in that slate was Event #4: $100 NLHE Sunday Special SE.
That $100,000 guaranteed tournament yielded a trio of five-figure winners after a three-way deal at the final table. Top finishers included 'se7en6se7en' (1st - $14,469), 'HeavyLizard (2nd - $10,944), and 'tuningform' (3rd - $11,172).
