There's no shortage of action in the poker world at the moment. It's like poker Christmas has come early--and the gifts just keep on coming.
Between the ongoing WSOP Paradise series at the Atlantis Resort in The Bahamas and the upcoming WPT World Championship at the Wynn Las Vegas--plus EPT Prague kicking off today--it's enough to make your head spin just trying to keep up with the latest updates.
If you're overwhelmed by all of the tournament action, may we interest you in a different varietal? Perhaps a high stakes, heads-up battle featuring one of the greatest to ever do it?
If you're reading this and nodding your head in anticipation, Poker Night in America has some good news for you.
Galfond vs. Bhalla
Poker Night in America has added another must-see event to the upcoming slate with their announcement today of a heads-up match between Phil Galfond and Eshaan "Brownballa" Bhalla.
The heavyweight, high stakes bout will stream live on PNIA's YouTube and Twitch channels, starting at 3:00pm ET this Sunday, December 10th.
Galfond shouldn't need much of an introduction--his accomplishments are well-known and well-reported on at this point. While Galfond considers Pot-Limit Omaha his best game, he's no slouch with two cards and the heads-up format is one that he's quite familiar with after completing several bouts during his ongoing Galfond Challenge.
Bhalla, however, likely isn't as widely recognized by poker fans. The former software engineer and poker enthusiast first made waves with appearances on Hustler Casino Live cash games.
Bhalla's friendship with HCL regular Nikhil "Nik Airball" Arcot further solidified his standing within the poker community, along with his impressive play on the felt--over the course of 38 appearances on the show, he's up over $370,000. Bhalla would later serve as a semi-coach and supporter during Airball's heads-up battle against Matt Berkey.
This summer, Bhalla finished in 4th in the $3,000 6-Max Event at the World Series of Poker, pocketing $171,874 for his efforts. Suffice it to say, Bhalla's got chops on the felt and anyone that's immediately counting him out in this match doesn't know enough about his play.
While Galfond may have the edge in terms of raw skill and experience, he's out of his comfort zone with only two cards in front of him, which should even the playing field somewhat.
The match all but guarantees must-see action so be sure to tune in this Sunday!
