The Poker League of Nations, which describes itself as the world's largest and most internationally represented group representing women's poker, has announced its first poker-themed cruise scheduled for six days in late October. The "PLON at Sea" series will run for six days, October 22-27, aboard the Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady.
Virgin's Scarlet Lady is the same cruise ship being used as the floating host of "WPT at Sea," the first permanent cruise-ship poker room created by the World Poker Room earlier this year. October's PLON at Sea series is not affiliated with the WPT, but will make use of the poker-room venue and services aboard the Scarlet Lady.
The cruise begins and ends in Miami, with stops in Costa Maya and Bimini Beach providing breaks from the on-ship poker action.
A full slate of events is planned for the cruise, including exclusive PLON ladies events. Both cash games and tournaments will be available. The onboard poker will be highlighted by a $200 PLON Main Event.
The inaugural PLON poker cruise will be awarding three cruise-and-seat packages donated by PLON founder Lena Evans and 2021 GPI Female Player of the Year Nadya Magnus, who will be taking part in the cruise. The packages, valued at $1,838 each, include the $200 PLON Main Event entry and cruise fare for one in a shared Sea Terrace cabin aboard the Scarlet Lady. Travel from a player's home to and from Miami is not included, but the prize packages also include all meals and non-alcoholic beverages onboard, plus a $150 bar tab.
The three packages will be made available via a special freeroll hosted on Saturday, September 9, on PokerStars' play-money platform, PokerStars.bet. The freeroll begins at 1 pm ET (10 am PT).
In addition, Magnus is donating a seat into December's WPT World Championship Day 1D. The seat is valued at $10,400 to the event's winner. Additional value-added prizes will also be awarded. More information is available via PLON's Facebook home.
The series is being coordinated by PLON Travel Ambassador Jennifer Solomon, who said, “The minute I stepped in the WPT at Sea poker room on the ship to play in a tournament, I felt that I had finally found the opportunity to start fulfilling this goal. With Lena’s support, I started planning our official PLON voyage.”

It’s important for us to see a lot more women in open fields than there are now, and I believe that with organizations like PLON we can make that happen.”
