PokerStars has announced a last-minute addition to the schedule for its European Poker Tour (EPT) Malta festival.

On October 10, a special €400 buy-in tournament will be held to support the SiGMA Foundation, with €100 of every buy-in going directly to the charity. Players will also have the option to rebuy or top up their stacks and 50% of top-up funds will also go to the charity.

The SiGMA Foundation supports underserved communities through education, healthcare, and infrastructure initiatives. Since its founding, the SiGMA Foundation has raised and invested upwards of €2M in projects across Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America.

The contributions received from the tournament at EPT Malta will go directly to supporting the launch of a school development program in Kasese, Uganda. In addition to the new classrooms, staff housing, and kitchen and bathroom facilities, the project will enable local children to continue their education beyond kindergarten and support the local economy through job opportunities for local builders, contractors, and educators.

“We’re very proud to be working with SiGMA Foundation to support the vital work they do across the globe," said Cedric Billot, Associate Director, Live Events Operations. “Poker players are a global community and tournaments like this are an important reminder that we have a collective responsibility to support and develop other communities across the world, beyond our own bubble. We’ve seen before that poker can be a powerful tool for greater good and I’m confident that our players will make SiGMA Foundation proud and provide huge support for this great cause.”
