It's been a while since PokerStars has launched a truly significant promotion that targets the United States, but that's now changed, as Stars has announced a giveaway of 40 U.S.-awarded Platinum Passes to January's Poker Stars Players No-Limit Hold'em Championship in the Bahamas.
PokerStars will be giving away the Platinum Passes both live and online (for the online part, in the U.S. states where Stars is regulated between now (meaning soon) and January. Each of the Platinum Passes is valued at $30,000 and includes the following:
- Buy-in to the $25,000 PSPC
- Six nights hotel accommodation for winner and a guest in a 5-star hotel
- Airport transfer
- $1,900 expense money
- Platinum Pass Winner experiences during the event
The PSPC will run from January 30 to February 3, 2023 in the Bahamas, immediately following the return of another vintage PokerStars offering, the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA). The 2023 PCA precedes the PSPC, being held from January 22 to January 29, 2023. The PCA Main Event, with a buy-in of $10,300, begins on January 24, 2023. All of the fun takes place at the Baha Mar Resort in Nassau.
U.S. included in global PSPC promotion
Exactly how the live portion of the U.S.-based PSPC promotion isn't fully laid out to the public as yet. PokerStars appears likely to run several live events through the remainder of 2022, including something via its new partnership with Las Vegas's Resorts World casino. Stars does not yet have an online license to offer its services in Nevada, and though that discussion is beyond the scope of this piece, that's something that at some point is inevitable. Stars will also likely find a way to do some live poker events in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan, at which a few of those PSPC packages will be awarded.
The 40 seats is a big deal, with a listed collective value of $1.2 million. Then consider that globally, PokerStars is awarding 400 Platinum Passes between now and the start of the PCA. The U.S. accounts for only a tenth of that, but it's still nice to see Stars returning to the States in this way. A few more details are available here.
While the live portion of the U.S.-focused giveaway is still being finalized, the international portion is further along in the planning. PokerStars has already announced a series of events around the globe where the Platinum Passes will be up for grabs.
