Ronald McDonald House New York has announced that it will host its seventh annual Charity Texas Hold'em event on May 25, 2022 at its Manhattan facility. The annual event generates funds to be used in support of the Ronald McDonald House Charities mission, which involves providing a warm place to stay for the families of children receiving pediatric cancer care.
Each year, Ronald McDonald House New York plans its charity-poker gala around numerous celebrities and well-known poker pros who help promote the event. Previous years' tournaments have included celebrity pros Will “The Thrill” Failla, Andy Frankenberger, Frank Kassela, Chris Moneymaker and Jonathan Little. Failla and Frankenburger are already slated to return for the 2022 edition of the fundraiser and other famed pros are expected to be added in the coming weeks.
The festivities begin at 6:00 pm with a pre-game toast, with cards dealt to players at 6:30. Participants begin with 7,500 chips plus an immediate re-buy option for 7,500 more, with unlimited rebuys available for the first 90 minutes in what's sure to be a turbo-paced event.
Following the re-buy period, players have an option for a 15,000-chip add-on as well. The charity-driven option also offers options via its sign-up/sponsorship page for players to buy re-buy/add-on packages, saving a few dollars up front with any unused rebuys then going to the charity, as often happens in poker fundraisers.
At least five prizes will be awarded, according to RMH New York:
- 1st Place: Gift Card for $1,250
- 2nd Place: Gift Card for $1,000
- 3rd Place: Gift Card for $750
- 4th Place: Gift Card for $500
- 5th Place: Seat to another Poker4Life Charity tournament of player's choice
Options are also available for non-playing spectators, direct donations for those who wish to support but cannot attend the event, and for major supporters, the chance to purchase an entire table of seats and have one of the pro players at your table. Information on the event can be found here, and tickets and other sponsorship options are available here.
