Intrepid poker players seeking their fortunes should circle September 6 in the calendar; there's a chance to bag the type of treasure that dreams are made of.
We already know 2026 is a big year for PokerStars, as it marks 25 years since the global online poker giant dealt its very first hand.
Just last month we had an anniversary series with $50 million GTD, while the month before saw the weekly Sunday Storm celebrated with a $500K guarantee to mark its 11th anniversary.
But now it’s time for a very special edition of PokerStars biggest weekly tournament of all: the Sunday Million.
The brand’s biggest and most prestigious regular event has been paying out at least a million dollars every week for what seems like decades.
And that’s because it literally has been decades.
2026 is the 20th anniversary of the most iconic weekly tournament in online poker, and as always PokerStars is planning to mark the occasion in a special way.
The result could well be the richest tournament PokerStars has ever run.
The biggest ‘Milly’ ever
A special 10-week phased tournament will begin from June 28, with phase 1 tournaments running on a daily basis on the site's .COM platform throughout the summer.
Each will have a $109 buy-in and come with an opportunity to make it through to the final phase, scheduled for September 6. We understand that every player who makes it through to September’s final phase will be in the money.
And while a guaranteed prizepool for this very special edition of the Sunday Million has not yet been announced, the 2 months+ period of starting flights has set our imaginations running wild.
With so much time for players to take their shot — coupled with the fact it is a re-entry tournament giving everyone ample chance to fire multiple bullets — it would be a major shock if this was not the richest Sunday Million tourney ever held.
More than once, previous anniversary editions of this event have carried guarantees of $10M or more. Six years ago, the Milly’s 14th birthday celebrations saw over 93,000 entries create a prizepool of more than $18 million.
Will this 20th anniversary version of the tournament top that? It’s almost beyond a doubt. And that’s before we learn more about guaranteed prizes and the special promotions PokerStars is sure to launch alongside it this summer.
We’ll bring you more details, including the mysterious tournament guarantee, as they become available.
