The second of 11 days of play in the 2020 EPT Online at PokerStars came to its conclusion Monday, with three more champions crowned in the unprecedented online tournament series.
The EPT Online marks the first-ever all-online event put on by the European Poker Tour, with PokerStars hosting the festival Nov. 8-18. The first day of the 2020 EPT Online saw David “MonkeyBausss” Laka take down the $5,200 8-Max High Roller for a $143,566 payday on Monday.
The $20 million guaranteed series rolled on Tuesday, and here's a look at the three tournaments that decided a winner:
Ka Kwan "kaju85" Lau came away with the victory in the biggest buy-in Pot-Limit Omaha event on the EPT Online schedule. Lau came out on top from a field of 70 entries to take the victory in Event #2: $10,300 6-Max PLO High Roller.
The two-day event reconvened Tuesday with the final seven players vying for the title at the final table. Lau came into the day's action fifth in the chip count (46 big blinds), looking up at tournament chip leader Andreas 'Skjervoy' Torbergsen (80 big blinds) and three other players in front of Lau in the chip counts.
Lau battled his way to the final two, ending up in a heads-up battle against Laszlo 'omaha4rollz' Bujtas. Butjas took a huge lead after the first hand of heads-up action, but Lau found a way to post a comeback win and take the EPT $10,300 6-Max PLO High Roller title.
Lau earned $188,937 for the win. Other top finishers included Butjas (2nd - $141,233), Eelis 'EEE27' Pärssinen (3rd - $105,574), and 'd.apollo777' (4th - $78,918). Torbergsen, who came into the final table with the chip lead, finished sixth ($44,098).
Event #4: $530 NLHE
Tatiana "Mysters_Y" Barausova put her large-field tournament prowess on display, topping a field of 1,139 players to take down the championship in Event #4: $530 NLHE. The one-day event saw the prize pool pushed to $569,500 for the $530 buy-in event, with Barausova coming away with a $74,951 payday.
The Russian PokerStars Team Online member got the best of a three-way deal among the final trio of players at the top of the payout structure. The other players in that deal included 'Spotzilla666' (2nd - $63,020) and Brazil's Henrique 'Galochina10' Coutinho (3rd - $66,732).
The heads-up battle between Barausova and 'Spotzilla666' took just seven hands to complete. The final hand came down to a pocket eights versus king-queen suited coin flip, with Barausova finding the win with two pair on a Q♦️K♦️A♦️J♦️6♣ runout.
Event #5: $1,050 NLHE 8-Max Win The Button
A tournament with one of the most unique formats came to an end Tuesday with Claas 'SsicK_OnE' Segebrecht taking down the win in Event #5: $1,050 NLHE 8-Max Win The Button. The German outlasted a field of 238 players and came away with a $45,765 payday.
Other top finishers in Event #5 included Finland's Sami 'Lrslzk' Kelopuro (2nd - $34,900), Brazil's Rodrigo 'Seijistar' Seiji (3rd - $ 26,614), and Jans 'Graftekkel' Arends of the Netherlands (4th - $20,296).
