When PokerStars’ The Big Game on Tour returns for a new season next week, expect the sparks — if not the fists — to fly.
And that’s not just because one of the players at the table is a professional MMA fighter.
Former UFC bantamweight champion ‘Suga’ Sean O’Malley joins the line-up in Las Vegas for a $100/$200 cash game, but when it comes to the poker there will be some even more intimidating names in the game. And these guys pack a different kind of punch.
Super high roller Jason Koon, two-time WSOP Player of the Year Shaun Deeb and renowned cash game specialist (and PokerOrg Player Advisory Board member) Matt Berkey will be waiting, not to mention the unpredictable star of many high stakes streams, Randy ‘3Coin’ Sadler.
The first episode of the new season will be available from May 17, with new episodes available weekly until June 14.
Loose Cannon gets a second shot
Joining this line-up of bruisers as the episode’s ‘Loose Cannon’ is Andy Taylor, a construction manager from Toronto.
As usual, the Loose Cannon is a regular Joe picked by PokerStars to take on the high and mighty at their own game, staked to the tune of $50,000 and able to keep anything they wiin.
Taylor almost made the cut in the previous season of the show, but the judges didn’t pick him. This time he’s back to prove they made the wrong decision, and he’s determined to earn the big money the hard way.
“Please don’t take it easy,” he tells PokerStars ambassador Jason Koon before they sit down. “Oh I won’t, I’ll let you feel it,” Koon replies.
It’s not long before Taylor finds himself knee-deep in big money pots against some of the most dangerous players in the game.
So, how does he do? And could you do any better?
Find out the answer to the first question when the first episode drops on May 17 at the PokerStars YouTube channel.
And as for the second question? Put your name in the hat when applications open for the next season, and it could be you in there firing off shots against the big guns.
