As the poker community still adjusts to a world without Doyle Brunson, the World Poker Tour honors the great man all week long with some great memories of his time on the felt for all of us to enjoy.
Much of Brunson's legacy is firmly cemented in his time playing the WPT. He amassed over $2 million in career earnings there, and he also claimed a spot on the coveted Mike Sexton Champions Cup by winning a title. As we collectively relive many of our favorite Doyle memories this week, the WPT is doing the same.
They will be airing five exclusive episodes featuring Texas Dolly on a loop through this Sunday, many of which haven't been a part of WPT programming for years. Here's a list of the iconic shows that will be playing:
2003 WPT Championship
A final table for the ages, featuring Doyle Brunson and Phil Ivey at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
2005 WPT Poker by the Book
A six-person, winner-take-all, invitation-only tournament featuring poker players who had written books. Brunson, Hellmuth, Sexton, Caro, Cloutier, and Sklansky make for a fantastic show at Foxwoods.
2005 WPT Legends of Poker
Where Doyle earned over $1 million by battling a field of young guns and coming out on top at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles.
2006 WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic
Back at the Bellagio, Brunson battled the likes of Patrik Antonius, Phil Laak, J.J. Liu, and others in this timeless classic.
2022 WPT Cash Game
Brunson sits down just last year for an epic cash game against Ema Zajmovic, Phil Hellmuth, Brad Owen, Phil Ivey, and Gilbert Arenas Jr. If you want to see Brunson get the best of Hellmuth time and time again at The Wynn, check this one out.
It's an understatement to say that Brunson gave us so many memories throughout his years on and off the felt. Thanks to the WPT, you can relive some of his best all week long. Episodes will be aired both on their YouTube channel and their Twitch channel.
Thanks for all memories, Doyle. And thanks to the WPT for allowing us to relive some of the best this week.
