Yesterday was Day 2 of the World Poker Tour World Online Championship Main Event on partypoker. It saw the field reduced to 24 players. They will be competing for the top prize of $1.7 million when play starts up again later today.
The tournament attracted 1,011 entries, despite there being just two day ones and a limit on rebuys. Rebuys were limited to one each. Though, players knocked out on Day 1a could buy-in afresh on day two.
The Main Event still managed to just about beat its $10 million guarantee. With the prize pool coming to a total of $10,110,000
Both first and second will surpass a million bucks, and third place will be making $814,664.

Day 1a saw 521 entries pared down to 80. With the 76 players left from Day 1b’s 490 entries, this made for a starting field on Day 2 of 156 players.
Twenty of those would be going home with pockets empty though. Payouts started from 136 players.
Day 2 started with those 156 players joined in one field for the first time. Blinds started at 15,000/30,000 with an ante of 3,750.
The biggest stack in the field was Blaž Žerjav with 4,400,082.
Plenty of big names made it through, though few with much of a stack. Christian Rudolph started the day with 2,183,550 in chips about half of Žerjav’s.
Other notables included: Kenny Hallaert and Joao Baumgarten with 1.7 million in chips, Jake Schindler with 1.3 million in chips, Maria Lampropulos with 1.0 million in chips.
Notables with under a million include Jans Arends with 897,367 in chips, Ankush Mandavia with 878,449 in chips, and Chance Kornuth with 622,000 in chips.
John Duthie was also hanging in there with 475,954 in chips, just under 16 big blinds.
Day 2 begins
Many big-name players fell by the wayside over the course of Day 2’s play. Play was set for twelve blind levels of 30 minutes each.
The bubble broke in the first few levels. Ioannis Angelou-Konstas had the honor of breaking it when he was sent to the rail in 137th place.
The pay structure now guaranteed everyone a few potatoes. In response, play sped up. Eliminations came fast with players like Jason Koon (131st for $23,253) and Jake Schindler (130th for $23,253) being knocked out in quick succession.
Other big names were disappointed as the day went on. Isaac Haxton took 93rd for $27,297. Parker Talbot took 75th for $31,341. And Shaun Deeb took 65th for $33,363.
Play ended with 24 players left and Artur Martirosian of Russia in the lead with 30,030,334. This represented a tenfold increase on his Day 2 starting stack.
