When Mike Matusow says he hasn't seen a hand like the one below, it's almost guaranteed to be a good one.
The hand in question took place during Event #47: $2,500 Mixed Omaha Hi Lo 8 or Better; Seven Card Stud Hi Lo 8 or Better. While Matusow wasn't directly involved, he was there to bear witness to the insanity and captured the result on camera.
'You can't make this up'
During a Seven Card Stud Hi Lo 8 or Better round, a three-way pot developed. It's not clear how the action went across each street, but Matusow does well to walk viewers through the showdown.
There's one player all-in – he was drawing to both high and low hands – but it's really the other two players' hands that we're interested in. As you can see in Matusow's video, one player showed down a full house. The other player, who identifies himself in the video as Frank, held
with one card still to come.
When Frank saw his opponent's full house, he knew he had just one out to the winner – and it came. Frank drew the to improve to a
royal flush, downing his opponent's full house in dramatic fashion.
Matusow was quick to get his phone out to record the showdown – perhaps he's been taking lessons from his buddy Daniel Negreanu. Matusow recounts the showdown, saying, "He looked at his hand. He had jacks and he said, 'I can only win with the ten of spades,' and he hits the ten of spades for a royal. You can't make this up."
