Shaun Deeb's 2026 Player of the Year campaign may now face an uphill battle after Jeff Platt summoned WWE's Danhausen for a summer-long curse.

Danhausen, a Vaudevillian mix of 'very nice' and 'very evil', is known for this sort of thing. The 35-year-old wrestler recently played a big part in the NBA Playoffs with a curse against two of the Eastern Conference's best teams.

Is it real?

The New York Knicks, one half of the NBA Finals starting on Wednesday, were cursed by Danhausen live on ESPN just before the playoffs started. The team fell behind the lowly Atlanta Hawks before a fan paid Danhausen to lift the curse, and they quickly ripped off a 7-0 run on the path to the NBA's championship finale.

Later in the playoffs, Danhausen went on to curse the Cleveland Cavaliers on an episode of NBA Today. The Cavs would soon collapse in their series against the Knicks, suffering a sudden and unceremonious finish to their season.

Platt sends curse

This particular curse can be traced back to Platt, who likely paid for the service. Platt included a solicited video from Danhausen, cursing 'Shaunhausen' with his trademark "You are cursed!" line.

"I greatly respect your accomplishments," Platt told Deeb on X. "You are a tremendous poker player. Yet your disrespect of sideline reporters cannot be tolerated."

Whether the curse takes hold at the 2026 WSOP remains to be seen, but there's only one way to lift it: giving Danhausen 'human money.'

If Deeb starts to slide at the 2026 WSOP, expect him to pay up.
