The $25K Fantasy draft went down in Las Vegas on Monday night, and Daniel Negreanu put his money where his mouth is, drafting himself for $116.
That made him the third-most expensive player, behind Shaun Deeb ($133) and Michael Moncek ($130).
All 192 players who were drafted last night are now available to select in the PokerOrg WSOP Fantasy Freeroll.
You have to pick a team of eight players with a budget of $200. Every time they cash at the WSOP, your team scores points.
The best bit? It's completely free to play. Just make sure you lock down your team before the deadline at 1pm PT on Thursday, May 28.
The next best bit?
We've got some strategy advice from Negreanu himself. Read his tips below and then go and pick your winning team.
Is Shaun Deeb worth $133?
Shaun Deeb, as predicted, is this year's most expensive player. But is it worth spending that much of your budget on one player? Not necessarily, says Negreanu.
“Some teams are willing to go all-in on one guy because they feel like they have a really good stable of $1 guys," Negreanu tells us. "However, if you look historically at this draft, those teams don't typically win; the more balanced teams do.”
Those ‘$1 guys’ are essential to finding that balance; being able to spot an undervalued asset can make all the difference.
There are 44 players who will cost you $1 this year – and it's almost a lock that one of those will put up a huge haul.
Negreanu instead of Deeb?
But if you're going to take on Deeb, who is going to be the big hitter on your side?
With decades of WSOP experience and an appetite for competition undimmed by time, Negreanu himself is the biggest point-scorer in the 15-year history of the WSOP Fantasy Draft.
He knows his own value – which is why he drafted himself this year, just as he did in 2025.
“I wasn't going to pick myself at all,” he says of his strategy last summer. “I had zero interest in taking myself, I rarely ever do it, but then I heard the number and I was like, 'You guys are stupid.'
“This isn't a brag, this is just obvious. You don't have a lot of people who play all the high-stakes no-limit, all the high-stakes PLO and all the high-stakes mixed. There are not many: me, maybe Jeremy Ausmus, and Shaun Deeb.”
“I'm a good horse,” says Negreanu. “My floor is quite high, my ceiling's high too. I'm going to get you something – it's a safe, solid pick."
Pick your team of 8 players now! The Fantasy Freeroll draft is open until 1pm PT on Thursday, May 28.
