Willie Elliot has been involved in the European poker scene and the global online poker community for over a decade. The humble Scotsman made an explosive entry onto the British poker circuit after entering the UK & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) Nottingham Main Event in May 2014. Elliot, very much a recreational poker player, found himself surrounded by professionals as he reached the tournament's final table. His fourth-place finish bagged him his biggest live poker cash to date ($113,428).
The previous year, Elliot had landed a tournament win in the Summer Showdown Main Event of the Scottish Poker Series in Edinburgh, bagging $18,433 in the process. Elliot would also go on to final-table several other events in 2013, including another in Edinburgh and a turbo tournament at the 2013 European Poker Tour (EPT) London event.
While Elliot’s presence in major poker tournaments may have waned in recent years, his significance in the poker community certainly hasn’t. This was cemented by his appointment as PokerStars’ Customer Engagement Manager.
Elliot can be regularly found on social media promoting some of the biggest PokerStars events, both on and offline. One of his main roles is to support those who qualify for the biggest live PokerStars events via online satellites. Elliot and his team work hard to give qualifiers the best possible experience.
With Elliot attuned to the nuts and bolts of the live and online poker scenes, coupled with his ability to serve as a bellwether of the poker community, he’s an important addition to our Player Advisory Board.
