Postponed EPT Prague sees huge turnout

This month's EPT Prague was making up for lost time. After COVID saw the 2020 edition canceled and the 2021 edition postponed into 2022, King's Resort in Prague was not messing around. Over the course of just eleven days — from March 5 to March 16 — the casino ran 57 events. This meant several days with eight or nine events running at the same time.

Sixteen of these were "Win Your Seat" satellites, and many were small €200-€600 buy-in events. However, the highlight events of the week were the four €25,000 buy-in High Roller events and the €5,300 buy-in EPT Prague Main Event.

Several of the smaller events were under the Eureka brand. Since this year the EPT Prague was blended with the Eureka series, the line between which events belonged to which series was blurred beyond usefulness.

On top of the volume of events, turnout was very high for some of the headliner tourneys.

King's Resort celebrated the success of the Eureka series in a tweet reading, "EPT Prague smashes Eureka record. Largest ever field in @pokerstars Eureka event! 3155 Total entries. €3,028,800 prize pool. €417,820 for 1st place."

Among the notables who took down big events were Teun Mulder (winner — €25,000 Single-Day High Roller I), Andras Nemeth (winner — €25,000 Single-Day High Roller II), and Sam Grafton (winner — €10,200 No-Limit Hold'em). Teun Mulder also managed to make the final table of the Main Event.

The events deemed big enough for a live stream had an excellent commentary team with Joe Stapleton, Maria Ho, James Hartigan, and Nick Walsh among those who manned the booth.

Overall the series was a huge success, hopefully bolstering the confidence of the European poker community.
