Robert Mizrachi is one step closer to the poker world's triple crown. In his two and a bit decades of playing poker, Mizrachi has collected four WSOP bracelets. Now he has a WPT Main Event title to go with them. He just needs an EPT title and his trophy cabinet will be complete.
Mizrachi took down the World Poker Tour Venetian Main Event, a $5,000 buy-in tournament that managed to draw in 1,178 players. An impressive turnout that was no doubt given a boost by the jetsam of the WSOP Main Event which wrapped up down the road last week.
The large turnout put $5,418,800 in the pot, of which $894,100 went to Mizrachi.
Mizrachi's brother Michael is also a notable poker pro with his own WPT victories to his name.
Robert Mizrachi's win makes him and his brother the only pair of siblings to have both won a WPT Championship title. Michael Mizrachi's WPT victories came in the main events at the 2005 WPT L.A. Poker Classic and the 2006 WPT Borgata Poker Open.
The WPT Tweeted its congratulations to Robert Mizrachi, writing, "Robert Mizrachi (@PokerRob24) took the #WPTVenetian Main Event final table by storm, securing $894,100 and entering the WPT Champions Club! Robert and his brother [Michael Mizrachi] @TheGrinder44 become the first sibling duo to have both lifted the WPT Champions Cup."
Seven players turned up on Day 4 to play down to a winner. It took ten orbits before the first player busted (Arian Stolt - $145,000).
That consolidated the TV final table of six players. Having spent seventy-ish hands to knock one player ou, it took just under another seventy to clear out the rest of the table.
After 136 hands (only six of which were heads up) Mizrachi had all the chips.
Mike Vanier won $595,000 for his second place finish.
