WSOP Event #21: Mixed Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Omaha Hi Lo 8 or Better; Big O

Event #21 of the 2021 WSOP is the $1,500 Mixed Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Big O tournament. This event played out seven-handed with 40-minute blind levels on Day 1 and 60-minute blind levels on Day 2 and Day 3. Play began on October 10.

The player pool for this event was lower this year with 641 entrants than in 2019 (717), creating a prize pool of $855,735.

In spite of a low $1500 cost of entry and a small prize pool relative to other events, the event drew several well-known faces to the field. Mike Matusow — who says Omaha Hi-Lo is his best game — hit the rail on Day 1. Daniel Negreanu did better, making it to the final day and finishing in 18th place for a small cash. Ari Engel, who just won the $10k Omaha-8 event, made it to Day 3 in this one.

The chip leader at the start of play on the final day was Las Vegas local Scott Abrams. He hit the rail halfway through Day 3, but still made the eight-handed final table seventh-place in chips.

The final knock-out came in a Big O round, where Dylan Linde won a bracelet and $170,269 in prize money.

This $1500 Omaha Mix tournament drew 717 players in 2019 to create a prize pool of $967,950. Two former WSOP bracelet winners in James Van Alstyne and Yueqi Zhu made it down to the final three, but Anatoli Zyrin came out on top for his first bracelet and $199,838.
