Malinov outduels Seth Davies heads-up to clinch $661,743 payday

With Super MILLION$ Week in full swing at GGPoker, this week’s Super MILLION$ High Roller pushed the buy-in from $10,300 to $25,000 and the guaranteed prize pool to $2.5 million.

That predictably drew a loaded field for Episode 38 of the ongoing weekly tournament, with names like Jason Koon, Seth Davies, and Joao Viera taking seats among the final table lineup. By tournament’s end, one of the most prolific players in the 38-week history of the event claimed his first Super MILLION$ title.

Russia’s Arsenii Malinov finally sealed a win in his fourth Super MILLION$ final table appearance, collecting a $661,743 payday. Malinov topped a field of 114 entries in a giant-sized Episode 38, which offered a $2,850,000 final prize pool.

Davies (2nd – $503,914) bowed out with a runner-up finish as the latest edition of the Super MILLION$ wrapped up Tuesday at GGPoker.

Malinov breaks through for first Super MILLION$ title

The Episode 38 win gives Malinov his first Super MILLION$ win and biggest GGPoker score to date. The player formerly known as ‘BlindPew’ at GGPoker strikes a regular presence in the weekly High Roller tournament.

Tuesday marked Malinov’s ninth cash in the Super MILLION$. He’s posted fourth, fifth, and eighth-place finishes in three previous final table showings, and pushed through for his first win in the weekly High Roller Tuesday.

Davies entered final table play as the tournament chip leader, and the co-favorite to win according to odds offered by PokerShares. Davies and fellow co-favorite Matthias Eibinger (6th – $169,443) both entered final table play with similar chip stacks, but neither could find a way to spin those big stacks into a tournament win.

Davies posted his deepest Super MILLION$ run to date, finishing runner-up in his third final table appearance in the tournament. The half-million-plus score pushed Davies’ all-time GGPoker winnings to over $3.36 million.

‘REPTAR’ (3rd – $383,728) played the final table as the only player in the hunt with real-name-unknown status. Tuesday’s third-place finish gave marked the best-ever GGPoker cash for ‘REPTAR’ by far.

High-stakes tournament regular Aleksejs Ponakovs ($292,207) posted his biggest Super MILLION$ cash to date, accomplished in his fifth final table appearance in the weekly tournament.

Viera (5th – $222,514), Koon (7th – $129,030), David Coleman (8th – $98,256) and Daniel Dvoress (9th – $74,821) rounded out the final table finishers.

Next Tuesday’s Super MILLION$ plays as the Main Event of the Super MILLION$ Week tournament festival. The buy-in reverts to its normal $10,300, but the prize pool offers $10,000,000 in guaranteed prize money.
