With all four opening days of Americas Cardroom’s $5 Million Guaranteed Venom PKO Tournament in the books, the event is ready to move on to Day 2. Play resumes at 10am PST on Monday, September 27 with 394 players remaining. Among those two players remaining are “Symbiote Venom” Chris Moneymaker and “Symbiote Carnage” Vanessa Kade.

As part of the Venom theme of the event, Moneymaker and Kade were “under attack” from evil aliens heading into this event. Players who knock out Moneymaker or Kade will not only be awarded the progressive bounty over their heads but an additional 100% “eradication reward”.

For example, under normal circumstances, knocking out a player with a $10,000 bounty on their head in a PKO tournament would result in $5,000 being added to your account and $5,000 being added to your progressive bounty total. But if you were to eliminate Vanessa Kade with a $10,000 bounty on her head in this event, you would receive the $5,000 as usual, plus an additional 100% match of her $10,000 bounty for a total of $15,000.

This dynamic will add a lot of interest to Moneymaker’s and Kade’s performance on Day 2. Moneymaker enters the day with 1,672,605 in chips and a $3,437.50 progressive bounty. Kade has 1,455,136 in chips and a $1,796.88 progressive bounty. As these two ACR pros go deeper in the tournament and pick up more eliminations along the way, the potential winnings for the other players in the event will grow as well.

September’s Venom PKO Tournament received 2,321 entrants to generate a total prize pool of $5,802,500, easily exceeding the guarantee of $5 million. First and second place both pay $411,687 in this event, but the eventual winner will receive a significant boost to his or her earnings, thanks to the progressive bounty on their heads-up opponent.

Some of Phil Nagy’s breast cancer awareness runners are still alive as well

Last week, WPN CEO Phil Nagy picked six recreational players and six pros to stake into this tournament. Each player staked in the tournament would get to keep 50% of their earnings, while the other 50% would go to raising money for breast cancer awareness.

Alex “Doctrix” Chauran crushed her Day 1C run on Friday and will enter Day 2 with 3,605,571 in chips and a progressive bounty of $4,218.75. She is planning on streaming her Day 2 run on her Twitch channel at Twitch.tv/queenofdiamonds.

Ryan “PLOtential” Laplante has also made it through to Day 2 with 1,229,248 in chips and a $1,875 progressive bounty. Laplante has generously agreed to donate all of his earnings in this tournament to the cause.

Monday’s action is scheduled to play through to the end of level 49, which will be 10 hours of gameplay plus breaks. The Venom PKO continues on Tuesday with Day 3, which will play down to eight players remaining. Those eight players will return for the final table on Wednesday. The final table will be live streamed at Twitch.tv/americascardroom.
